Job details Posted 19 August 2026 Start date 19 August 2026 Salary Range CAD - per Hour Location Vancouver Job type Contract Discipline Mining & Metals Reference 169729 Job Function Engineer , Electrical Engineer TRS is seeking an experienced ELECTRICAL & INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEER to support the design, execution, and delivery of a major industrial project. This role will provide electrical engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle, including design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities - Coordinate electrical engineering work packages delivered by internal teams, engineering consultants, and vendors.
- Provide technical guidance to engineers, designers, consultants, and contractors.
- Support consultant management, including scope definition, design reviews, deliverable tracking, and comment resolution.
- Prepare and review electrical specifications, studies, calculations, single-line diagrams, drawings, and technical reports.
- Support power system design activities, equipment sizing, load calculations, protection coordination, and arc flash studies.
- Coordinate with process, mechanical, civil, structural, controls, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
- Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, HAZOPs, risk assessments, and value engineering workshops.
- Support procurement activities, including technical requisitions, bid evaluations, vendor reviews, and factory acceptance testing.
- Identify engineering risks and support mitigation plans to maintain safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
- Provide construction, commissioning, startup, and handover support.
Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration.
- 8-10 years of progressive electrical engineering experience in mining, mineral processing, heavy industrial, energy, or major capital projects.
- Experience coordinating consultants, technical reviews, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and project execution.
Technical Experience
Experience with the following is preferred:
- High-voltage and medium-voltage power systems
- Substations and transformers
- Switchgear and motor control centres (MCCs)
- Variable frequency drives (VFDs)
- Instrumentation and control systems
- Grounding, bonding, lighting, and communications systems
- Power system studies, including Load flow analysis, Short-circuit analysis, Protection coordination, Arc flash studies, Power quality assessments, Industrial plant construction and commissioning Preferred Experience - Mining and mineral processing facilities
- Brownfield and greenfield capital projects
- EPC/EPCM project environments
- Construction, commissioning, and startup support Key Attributes - Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Collaborative approach to multidisciplinary project delivery
- Sound technical judgment and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a quick-paced environment
