The Opportunity

Rightway Recruitment is representing an established electrical contractor in the search for an experienced Project Manager / Estimator to join their growing team in Nanaimo, BC.

Our client has a strong track record of delivering electrical construction projects across Vancouver Island, with experience spanning commercial, institutional, multi-unit residential, and mixed-use. They offer the stability and resources of an established contractor while continuing to expand their presence in the Island market.

This is a hands-on role offering involvement across the full project lifecycle, from estimating and tendering through procurement, construction, financial management, and final closeout. It is well suited to an experienced electrical construction professional who enjoys balancing estimating with project execution and building strong relationships with clients, contractors, and field teams.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Operations

- Manage electrical projects from initial estimate through construction and final closeout
- Develop project schedules, procurement plans, and labour forecasts
- Coordinate with Forepersons, field teams, general contractors, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, quality, progress, and potential risks
- Conduct site visits and provide ongoing support to field operations

Estimating

- Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for electrical construction projects
- Review drawings, specifications, tender documents, and project requirements
- Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing
- Prepare tender submissions, revisions, and change order pricing
- Identify scope gaps, project risks, and opportunities during preconstruction

Financial & Contract Management

- Manage project budgets, forecasting, billing, and cost control
- Monitor project financial performance against established budgets
- Review contracts and identify commercial or contractual risks




- Prepare, price, and manage change orders throughout construction
- Maintain accurate project documentation and financial reporting

Business Development & Client Relations

- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, general contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Maintain proactive communication throughout all stages of project delivery
- Identify potential project and business development opportunities
- Represent the organization professionally within the Vancouver Island construction market

Team Leadership

- Work closely with Forepersons, Site Supervisors, and field personnel
- Provide explicit direction and support throughout project execution
- Collaborate with internal estimating, operations, and administrative teams
- Promote a practical, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach

Project Scope The successful candidate will have exposure to a diverse portfolio of electrical construction projects throughout Nanaimo and Vancouver Island, including:

- Commercial construction
- Institutional projects
- Multi-unit and mixed-use residential developments
- New construction and renovation projects

What You Bring

- 3+ years of electrical Project Management and/or Estimating experience
- Strong knowledge of electrical construction practices and project delivery
- Electrical Trade Certification, Electrical Engineering Degree, Electrical Technologist Diploma, or equivalent industry experience
- Experience managing multiple projects and/or estimates simultaneously
- Strong understanding of estimating, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, contracts,



and change management
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities
- Ability to work effectively across both field and office environments

Nice to Have:

- Experience with commercial, institutional, or multi-unit residential electrical construction
- Design-build project experience
- Experience with Accubid or comparable electrical estimating software
- Familiarity with Procore, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Teams

Working Environment

- Based in Nanaimo, BC
- Projects located throughout Vancouver Island
- Regular interaction with clients, consultants, general contractors, suppliers, and field teams

Compensation & Benefits

- $85,000-$130,000 annually, depending on experience
