Our partner is looking for an Engineering Manager based in Canada.
This is an opportunity to lead a talented engineering team within a fully remote, globally distributed workplace.
You’ll combine strong technical judgment with people leadership to help engineers deliver products that create meaningful value for users.
The role spans roadmap execution, technical decision-making, team development, hiring, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
You’ll work closely with Product, Design, and customer-facing teams to balance new features, technical investments, and product quality.
You’ll remain close to the technology, engaging with code, technical designs, and implementation details rather than operating solely at a managerial level.
Directly manage and support a team of engineers, creating the conditions for them to deliver high-quality features and meaningful improvements for users.
Partner closely with Product, Design, and Success stakeholders to plan and execute the product roadmap while balancing feature development, technical improvements, maintenance, and bug fixes.
Coach engineers, support their career development, provide constructive feedback, and help them grow in an environment with limited formal structure and career ladders.
Diagnose project execution challenges by assessing people, processes, scope, dependencies, and delivery risks, then make practical adjustments.
Maintain strong technical involvement by understanding the problems the team is solving and contributing to decisions grounded in implementation realities.
Review technical designs, code,
and product proposals to identify risks, clarify requirements, and improve engineering outcomes.
Break complex initiatives into manageable components that reduce risk, increase opportunities for feedback, and allow plans to evolve as new information emerges.
Hire, onboard, and develop high-caliber individual contributors while building a strong and collaborative engineering culture.
Use technical understanding and product judgment to make effective decisions around project execution, prioritization, and delivery.
At least 2 years of engineering management experience, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to build, improve, and lead engineering teams while supporting individual career development.
Strong software engineering fundamentals and a technical background in either the Clojure ecosystem or Frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript.
Ability to fluently read and understand code and technical design documentation and participate meaningfully in technical discussions.
Strong product sensibilities, with the ability to critically assess product proposals and design work, translate requirements into engineering solutions, and identify technical and delivery risks.
Demonstrated ability to debug project execution and determine whether changes are needed across people, processes, scope, or implementation.
Strong problem-decomposition skills, with an ability to break complex work into smaller, lower-risk increments and continuously adapt plans based on feedback and reality.
Proven ability to make decisions that remove blockers and help teams consistently ship high-quality software.
Strong coaching and mentoring skills, particularly in environments without rigid organizational structures, formal titles, or predefined career ladders.
Outcome-oriented mindset, technical curiosity, sound judgment, and a strong focus on delivering long-term user value.
US salary benchmark for the role of $200,000–$250,000 annually, plus meaningful equity and benefits; Fully remote, globally distributed work environment with team members across numerous countries.
Flexible working arrangements, including the ability to define your own schedule and work from wherever you are based.
Meaningful equity participation.
Comprehensive benefits package, including employer-covered medical, dental, and vision insurance for eligible U.S. employees, with dependent coverage support.
401(k) retirement plan with employer matching for eligible U.Flexible and unlimited paid time off, including sick time.
Opportunity to work on technically challenging products that help organizations make better use of their data.
User-focused culture centered on building sustainable, long-term product value rather than short-term solutions. #
