McDonald House Torontoencompasses a House for 81 families in downtown Toronto and seven Family Roomsin hospitals across the Greater Toronto Area and in Sudbury. The families weserve come from throughout Ontario, across Canada and around the world. We are looking for a Part-Time Family Services Coordinatorto join our growing team at theHouse (240 McCaul Street) and Family Rooms at SickKids Hospital.

The Role

Reporting to theManager, Family Services, a Family Services Coordinator, is the first line ofcommunication with the Guest Family and is responsible for welcoming andproviding service to all families staying at the House or utilizing FamilyRooms.

The Family Services

Coordinator facilitates the family intake andregistration process, and coordinates family stays at the House and the FamilyRooms at SickKids. This role provides families with resources to adapttocommunal living and settling into Toronto while also ensuring adherence topolicies and procedures to provide a secure, warm, comfortable, and compassionateenvironment for families, guests, and volunteers. The schedule forthis position is 32 hours/month, working every other weekend on a rotatingschedule between either 8 am - 4 pm, 10 am - 6 pm, 12 pm (noon) - 8 pm, or 4 pm- 12 am (midnight), including weekends and statutory holidays.

In this role you will:

- Act as the primary contact for thefacility operations (Ronald McDonald Toronto House or Family Rooms atSickKids) or family issues that arise during their shift. Work closelywith both the House and the Family Room teams to ensure both locationsoperate according to the guidelines and protocols of Ronald McDonald HouseToronto.
- Monitor aspects of security (propertyand persons) and report any related issues or concerns.
- Foster strong values-based relationshipswith all key stakeholders for both locations, acting as a contact forfamily referrals, admissions, and support. Work closely with volunteers toengage and support as necessary to maintain a safe and comfortable environmentfor families.

Key Responsibilities Include - Welcome, register and acquaint residentsto the House and/or Family Rooms. Assist with family check-in /out. Ensurereadiness of rooms and the facility and assign rooms to accommodateresidents while assessing priorities of resident’s needs.



Assist familieswith support needs and special requests as required.

- Understand the different needs for eachlocation (the House and Family Rooms at SickKids) prioritize and supportappropriately.
- Prepare accurate and timelyadministrative reports and documentation as required for both locations,including maintaining up to date family records, directory, and database.
- Complete administrative tasks such asanswer phones, respond to emails and deliveries, process payments, dataentry, filing, general office duties, manage waitlist and referralprocess, reference background checks, creating and distributingcommunication materials, etc.
- Assist with housekeeping and maintenanceduties and various event and meeting set-up and execution.
- Participate in special projects andother duties, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS Ronald McDonaldHouse Toronto understands that for any role, it’s possible that no one personwill possess all of the desired qualifications. The following is an outline ofthe qualifications we believe are important to bring to the position and/ordevelop while in the role.

Education &Experience; - Minimum one (1) year of experience inproviding family support or related services.

- Experience in healthcare, working withvulnerable populations, or in a not-for-profit organization is an asset.Customer service experience in a hospitality, shelter, community center,or respite setting will also be considered.
- High school diploma; college diploma inSocial Services, Social Work or related field is an asset. CPR / First AidCertification (can be provided for committed applicants).
- Experience in volunteer management. Requirements,Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Strong customer service skillspreferably with experience working with families, hospital stakeholdersand volunteers.
- Excellent communication (verbal /written) and listening skills.
- Demonstrated de-escalation andproblem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive situationswith excellent judgment, compassion and discretion.
- Exemplary collaboration andinterpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintainrelationships.
- Ability to work effectively within ateam, as well as independently.
- Robust organizational skills, with theability to manage multiple deliverables in a time-sensitive environmentand adapt to frequently changing priorities.




- Working knowledge in technologyincluding Microsoft Office and other databases.
- Ability to manage sensitive situationswith excellent judgment, compassion, and discretion.
- Ability to work flexible hours andshifts to support a 24-hour operation. Occasionally, overnight and weekdayshifts may be requested on an as needed basis.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs. The successfulcandidate will need to undergo a successful reference check, a satisfactorybackground check and immunization process as per hospital policies.
