About the Role:

The Maintenance Associate (Equipment & Fleet) is a full-time, hands-on role responsible for the general upkeep of the Kinghaven property, with a particular focus on maintaining and repairing the farm's vehicles, tractors, and small engine equipment. Reporting to the Head of Maintenance, this individual will work as part of a small, collaborative team and is expected to take direction well, work safely, and contribute across a broad range of property maintenance tasks.

Approximately one quarter of this role is dedicated to equipment and fleet maintenance: diagnosing, servicing, and repairing small engines, tractors, trucks, and other farm machinery. The remainder supports the full range of general maintenance duties shared across the team, including grounds care, building upkeep, and winter operations. This role suits someone with genuine mechanical aptitude, developed through a trade background, dealership experience, or serious hands-on hobby work, who also takes pride in the broader upkeep of a working farm property.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment & Fleet Maintenance (approximately 25% of role)• Diagnose and repair small engines and equipment, including chainsaws, string trimmers, push mowers, riding mowers, and leaf blowers

- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on tractors, trucks, and other farm vehicles, including the F250 plow truck
- Provide mechanical support to Kinghaven's honey division, including repair and servicing of tools and equipment used in honey operations, in coordination with the honey team




- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and coordinate with the Head of Maintenance and outside contractors on larger repairs as needed
- Maintain basic service and repair records for farm vehicles and equipment

General Maintenance & Grounds Support (approximately 75% of role)• Turf & Grounds Maintenance: Operate push mowers, riding mowers, string trimmers, and hill-cutters; perform regular cleaning and basic servicing of turf equipment; maintain grounds across farm, residential, and honey operation sites.
- General Clean-Up: Rake and remove grass clippings and leaves; pick up debris and fallen branches; clear fallen trees using chainsaw or pole-saw; remove brush and storm debris; conduct garbage and recycling runs using tractor and trailer.
- Property Upkeep: Fix potholes and washouts on farm roads; fill ruts in and around paddocks; dig ditches and plant holes; maintain garden beds, including edging, tilling, planting, weeding, and harvesting; spread wood chips; replace fence boards and posts; carry out painting in barns, residences, and along fence lines.
- Building & Facility Maintenance: Clean shop areas, vehicles, farm equipment, haylofts, and barns; perform basic repairs to barn interiors (stalls, tracks, shed rows); assist with simple plumbing and electrical tasks; change barn lighting; wash and grease garage doors; work at heights, including ladders, scaffolding, and roofs, as required.
- Support to Honey Operations: Provide general grounds upkeep and maintenance support at apiary sites, in coordination with the honey team.
- Routine Checks: Inspect pump houses,



water tank rooms, and vacant residences; monitor and replenish water softener salt; maintain pond filters; check and change mousetraps and light bulbs in the Main House.
- Renewable Energy Support: Monitor solar PV inverters and data loggers; note and report error codes; assist with inverter resets and safe shut-off procedures; coordinate with third-party electrical contractors as directed.
- Winter Operations: Operate the F250 truck with plow and sander attachments; shovel walkways, buildings, and residences; explicit snow from rooftops; remove hazard icicles; identify and insulate heat leaks in roofs, walls, and floors; participate in rotating winter scheduling, including weekend shifts, to maintain seven-day snow removal coverage.
- Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned by the Head of Maintenance in support of the general operation of the Kinghaven property

Requirements:

- 1 to 2 years of experience in turf management and general property maintenance
- Hands-on mechanical experience maintaining or repairing small engines and/or vehicles such as trucks, tractors, or ATVs, gained through a trade background, dealership or shop experience, or extensive hobbyist work; formal certification (such as 310S or 310T) is an asset but not required
- Valid G class driver's license required; experience driving trucks and tractors and towing trailers is preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 60 lbs independently
- Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons, including rotating winter weekend shifts
- Must supply own CSA-approved steel-toed work boots; on-the-job machine and safety training is provided
