The School Settlement

Staff plays a pivotal role in the YMCA's School Settlement Program. This position is fundamental in implementing inclusive services that empower newcomers to integrate into their new educational environment. Collaborating with educators and communities ensures students and families receive necessary support for academic success and social integration. Key Responsibilities:

- Provide individual and group settlement support in schools
- Build relationships with school and community networks
- Engage schools through awareness raising and meetings
- Facilitate problem solving with solution-focused approaches
- Support clients in accessing school system opportunities Requirements:
- Language proficiency in English and additional languages
- Education and experience in community settings
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of the Nova Scotia school system
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle Support newcomers in their settlement journey with the YMCA in Truro.
