Location: Toronto, ON
Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid (In-Office Wed/Thurs)
Contract Details
- Position Type: Contract
- Contract Duration: 4 months
- Pay Rate: C$30.00–C$35.00 / Hour (CAD)
- Shift / Schedule: 37.5 hours/week, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday
- Overtime: None anticipated
- Conversion Potential: FTE conversion possible; extension possible
- Interview Process: 2 rounds (Hiring Manager and Senior Leadership); 1 hour each; In Person and/or Virtual (MS Teams)
Job Summary A large financial institution's Finance Operations team is seeking a Manual QA Tester to support the Performance Management Data & Analytics function. This role is responsible for validating data integrity, testing financial systems and reporting processes, and ensuring business requirements are accurately reflected in delivered solutions. The successful candidate will execute manual test cases, analyze large datasets, validate data transformations through SQL queries, and identify defects or discrepancies within finance-related systems and reports.
The role requires strong collaboration with Finance Operations, Data Analytics, and Development teams to ensure high-quality delivery and accurate reporting outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute manual test cases and validate data integrity across financial systems and reporting platforms.
- Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, test scripts, and related documentation.
- Analyze large datasets using Excel to identify anomalies, inconsistencies, and data quality issues.
- Write SQL queries to validate data transformations, perform reconciliations, and support root cause analysis.
- Document, track, and communicate defects through resolution.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to maintain quality standards and ensure successful project delivery.
Required Skills
- 3–5 years of Manual QA testing experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data validation, and complex formulas.
- Intermediate to advanced SQL skills including SELECT, JOIN, GROUP BY, aggregations, and subqueries.
- Experience testing data-centric applications, financial reporting systems, ETL processes, or data transformation workflows.
- Experience performing data validation, reconciliation, and defect management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical and investigative mindset.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Collaborative team player who can work across business and technology teams.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Preferred Skills
- Banking or financial services industry experience.
- Experience supporting Finance Operations or financial reporting teams.
- Knowledge of general ledger, financial accounting, or reconciliation processes.
- Experience with capital markets or finance platforms.
- Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools.
- Experience working with large enterprise data environments.
