Location: Esquimalt, BC

Project Duration: Multi-year project with potential for future marine work

Start Date: Upcoming (TBD)

Schedule: Day and/or night shifts with overtime available

Compensation: $38.21/hr (based on experience)

Matrix HR is currently hiring Heavy Equipment Operators for a marine dredging project in Esquimalt, British Columbia. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a long-term project in a specialized marine construction environment with the potential for ongoing work on future dredging and marine projects.

Operators will be working with excavators or loaders to support dredging operations, material handling, and site logistics on both floating marine platforms and shore-based areas.

Equipment & Scope of Work

Excavators

- Load screeners, conveyors, and barges
- Handle dredged sediments and debris
- Support marine dredging and material transfer operations

Loaders

- Stockpile and manage materials on site
- Load and offload barges
- Support dredging and mixing operations

Work Workplace

Work will be performed on:

- Barges and Flexifloats
- Temporary marine platforms
- Shore-based support areas

Key Responsibilities

- Safely operate excavators or loaders in a marine construction environment




- Maintain clear communication with supervisors, crane operators, and site crews
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic preventative checks
- Maintain awareness of tides, weather conditions, and marine safety considerations
- Follow all safety, environmental, and site-specific procedures

Required Qualifications

- Minimum 3–5 years experience operating excavators or loaders
- Experience in civil, marine, or heavy industrial construction
- Strong equipment control and material-handling skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Reliable transportation to the Esquimalt job site

Preferred Qualifications

- Marine or dredging project experience
- Experience operating equipment on barges or floating platforms
- OFA Level 1 (or higher)
- WHMIS certification
- Ability to obtain site-specific clearance
