Raincoast Erosion Control

Coombs

Raincoast Erosion Control Ltd. is hiring an experienced Hydroseed Truck Driver to join our team. This is a full-time position based out of our Coombs, BC yard, with travel to project sites across Vancouver Island, the BC Interior and northeast BC. Applicants currently living in the Peace region are encouraged to apply - we run work out of Fort St. John and Grande Prairie and will work with the right person on travel and rotation.

Be transparent on what this job is. It is a driving position, but the truck is only half of it. Between loads you are on the deck and on the ground - carrying and breaking mulch bales into the tank, climbing the ladder up and down onto the deck throughout the day, dragging hose across slopes and uneven ground, and washing out at the end of it. This job is physically demanding every day, not just on the big ones. If you are looking for a seat-time truck job, this is not one.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Safe operation of a hydroseed truck and pump system on highway, industrial and remote resource roads
- Loading the tank by hand - repeatedly lifting, carrying and breaking open 50 lb mulch bales, along with seed, fertilizer and tackifier, throughout the shift
- Climbing up and down the truck ladder onto the deck many times a day to load, monitor and clean out the tank
- Mixing and applying hydroseed slurry (mulch, seed, tackifier, fertilizer) to specification
- Pulling, setting up and repacking hose and nozzles on slopes and uneven ground
- Water loading and tank management
- Pre-trip and post-trip inspections, daily logs and hours of service compliance
- Routine maintenance,

cleaning and minor field repairs of the truck and pump system
- Securing loads and safe transport of materials, hoses and small equipment
- Following all company, client and WorkSafeBC site safety procedures
- Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS
- Valid BC Class 3 driver's licence with air brake endorsement
- Clean driver's abstract
- Experience operating heavy trucks on gravel and resource roads
- Physically fit and comfortable with repeated heavy lifting (50 lb bales), frequent ladder climbing onto the truck deck, and standing and walking on uneven ground for a full shift
- Able to work outdoors in all weather - heat, rain, wind and cold
- Willingness to travel and stay out of town when project work requires it
- Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a small crew
- Legally entitled to work in Canada

ASSETS
- Hydroseeding, vacuum truck or water truck experience
- Occupational First Aid Level 1
- WHMIS certification
- BC-CESCL certification or erosion and sediment control experience
- Resource road radio protocol training

COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULE
- $28.00 - $38.00 per hour, paid biweekly, based on experience
- 40+ hours per week with overtime available during peak season
- Subsistence and accommodation provided for out-of-town work
- Company-supplied PPE and tools

Qualified applicants are invited to apply through Indeed with a current resume and driver's abstract. We thank all applicants for their interest; only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Pay: $28.00-$38.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
