Matrix is currently hiring local skilled industrial labourers for a long-term shipyard project in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Overtime opportunities may be available each week.
Key Responsibilities:
- General cleaning of shops, facilities, project areas, and other assigned workspaces
- Performing fire watch duties
- Cleaning and preparing surfaces
- Working safely in confined spaces and at heights
- Assisting with vessel docking and undocking
- Handling various materials, including metal products, construction materials, and coatings
- Moving ladders, paint cans, and other equipment
- Helping identify ways to reduce equipment and supply costs
- Supporting other team members wherever assistance is required
Requirements:
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment government security clearance/background check
- Must have full PPE and a fit-tested respirator
Required Qualifications & Training:
- Fall Protection — completed in person
- Confined Space — completed in person
- WHMIS 2015
- Lead Awareness
- Fire Watch
- Tool Safety
Required PPE:
- Hard hat
- CSA-approved steel-toed boots
- High-visibility safety vest
- Work gloves
- Eye protection
- Full-face respirator or PAPR
