Description The Instructor, Inuit Language and Culture Learning Designer is responsible for delivering high-quality Inuit language and culture instruction while contributing to the development, enhancement, and ongoing improvement of Inuit Language and Culture curriculum and instructional resources. Reporting to the Chair, Inuit Languages and Culture Programs, the incumbent supports classroom, blended, and online learning environments to ensure accessible, culturally grounded, and engaging learning experiences for students across Nunavut.

The instructor plays a key role in supporting Nunavut Arctic College's commitment to preserving and strengthening Inuit language, culture, and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ) by applying adult education principles, instructional design practices, and culturally responsive teaching methods. Working collaboratively with instructors, Elders, guest instructors, and program staff, the incumbent contributes to consistent program delivery and continuous curriculum improvement.

Responsibilities

Delivers Inuit language and culture instruction by planning and delivering classroom, blended, and online courses, preparing instructional materials, assessing student learning, and supporting student success through culturally grounded teaching practices.

Develops curriculum and instructional resources by contributing to the design, revision,



and continuous improvement of Inuit Language and Culture curriculum, applying instructional design principles, and ensuring learning materials meet the needs of diverse adult learners.

Supports educational technology and online learning by using learning management systems and digital instructional tools, assisting with course setup, developing learning resources, and supporting students and colleagues in online learning environments.

Collaborates to strengthen program delivery by working with instructors, Elders, guest instructors, and program staff, participating in professional development activities, and providing advice on Inuit language, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, and cultural content across the College.

Qualifications The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through an undergraduate degree or diploma in Linguistics, Inuit Language, Inuit Studies, Indigenous Studies, Education, or a related field, combined with a minimum of three (3) years of instructional or teaching experience, preferably in a post-secondary, adult education, or community-based learning workplace.

This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

Fluency in written and oral Inuktitut and English is required.
