- Develop in-depth knowledge of one or more industries and their publicly traded companies
- Provide investment recommendations for securities within industry coverage
- Maintain up-to-date investment theses and financial models on portfolio companies
- Recommend changes to portfolio composition when appropriate
- Meet regularly with management of publicly traded companies
- Visit company operations and perform required due diligence
- Develop a pipeline of potential investment opportunities
- Assist Client Servicing / Business Development with client queries, data collection, presentations, promotional material, and communications
- Review proxies and determine voting in accordance with the firm’s proxy voting policies
- Actively participate in investment team meetings
- Contribute to teamwide investment decisions and the firm’s growth
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- MBA or M. Sc. in finances or another pertinent area
- Excellent academic results
- Between 2 and 5 years of qualified experience
- CFA charterholder is an asset
- Professional experience or interest in the information technology, financial services, healthcare, or energy industries is an asset
- Experience in other industries is also considered
- Passion for investing and interest in financial markets
- Strong curiosity and desire to learn
- Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and independent mindset; able to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent research skills and resourcefulness in acquiring information
- High level of judgment and ability to critically and independently analyze large amounts of information
- Strong work ethic, discipline,
and consistency in applying investment principles
- Technical knowledge required to analyze companies and investment opportunities
- Meticulous attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
- Ability to excel as part of a team
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Knowledge of English required
- Multilingualism, including French/English and/or other languages, is an asset
- Ability to communicate with business leaders from various countries
