The Irrigators is hiring an Irrigation & Sprinkler Service Technician out of Coombs, BC, serving Qualicum Beach, Parksville, Nanaimo and the central Island. This is full-time, permanent, year-round work - not a job that ends when the season does. Service vehicle and tools are supplied.

We would rather hire the right person than the longest resume. If you have run irrigation service before, good. If you are coming out of landscaping, plumbing, electrical or general construction, you are handy, and you are the type who keeps digging until you find the fault, we will train you on the irrigation side.

Be straight with yourself about the work before you apply. You are outdoors year-round in Island weather, digging and trenching, down on your knees in wet valve boxes, lifting 50 lbs, and running blowouts through the cold end of the fall.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

- Service, troubleshooting and repair of residential and commercial irrigation and sprinkler systems
- Installation of new systems - trenching, pipe work and site preparation
- Programming and commissioning irrigation controllers
- Backflow prevention device installation and testing
- Spring startups, seasonal audits and fall winterization (blowouts)
- Completing service records and job documentation
- Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU NEED




- Valid BC Class 5 driver's licence and a clean driver's abstract
- Mechanically minded and able to troubleshoot - these systems fail electrically and hydraulically, and finding the fault is most of the job
- Physically fit - able to lift 50 lbs, dig, kneel and work outdoors in all weather
- Able to work on your own and manage a daily service schedule
- Legally entitled to work in Canada

NICE TO HAVE
- Irrigation installation or service experience
- IIABC Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT) Level 1 or Level 2
- Backflow Assembly Tester certification
- Landscaping, plumbing, electrical or construction background
- Occupational First Aid Level 1
- Pump, VFD or fertigation experience

WHAT WE OFFER
- $24.00 - $30.00 per hour, paid biweekly, based on experience
- Year-round full time work, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Service vehicle and tools supplied
- On-the-job training for a candidate coming from a related trade
