Global Financial Firm located in MISSISSAUGA, ON has an immediate contract opportunity for an experienced Java Developer

"This role is currently on a Hybrid Schedule.

You will need to have reliable internet, computer and android or iphone for remote access into the client systems during remote work.

We will be expected in the office weekly 2-3 days depending on the team requirement.

The Java Developer Lead is a senior development position responsible for accomplishing results through hands on leadership and project management of application systems in coordination with the technology team. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications systems analysis and programming activities. This is a great position for individuals passionate about hands on development and hands on project management also looking for leadership opportunity.

Responsibilities:

- Lead one or more software development teams comprised of both employees and vendor resources located onsite and offshore.
- Assign and track development tasks, review code, suggest improvements, and eliminate blockers.
- Analyze existing software systems and propose solutions to improve overall design, architecture, and efficiency.
- Be a hands-on leader who develops solutions to complex business problems using Java and related technologies.
- Lead day-to-day delivery work, clearly set out strategic architectural vision, identify project/program delivery risks, and work on risk mitigation.
- You will be required to work on complex and variable issues with significant potential impact, weighing various alternatives and stabilizing potentially conflicting needs.
- Collaborate with Sr. Managers, Business Analysts, Developers, Testers, Production Support, Partners, Business Users and External Clients to provide best in class technical solutions.
- Mentor/coach junior team members. Ensure that best practices and standards are followed as part of the application development life cycle.




- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Banking, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

- Prior experience as a Lead Java Developer.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Java (JDK 8+).
- Minimum 5 years of experience with Spring framework, Spring Boot and ORM framework (Hibernate/JPA).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in working with HTML5 based JavaScript framework and experience in working with Angular (or React or Vue).
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with SQL and databases such as Oracle, SQLServer, etc.
- Should have experience with all aspects of the SDLC and working in an Agile setting.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.
- A self-starter who is a quick learner of new platforms, tools and technologies.
- Team player in direct/matrix reporting organizations.
- Willingness to ask questions, challenge the process and seek out answers.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, take ownership, and drive strategy.
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
- Well acquainted with industry best practices and standards.
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.

Desirable:

- Experience in the use of Containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of configuring and managing Application Servers like Tomcat, WebSphere etc.
- Experience with Java Multithreading/Concurrency, Web Services (SOAP/REST), DB2 Database, JMS, MQ, NDM, SFTP
- Ability to work with distributed teams across multiple time zones.

Education:

- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience, preferably in a Computer Science or related field.
- Master's degree preferred
