Matrix HR is recruiting experienced Journeyperson Pipefitters for an industrial shutdown project in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This role supports the inspection, maintenance, repair, and installation of industrial flare systems, associated piping, and mechanical components.
This is a hands-on opportunity for a safety-focused Pipefitter with industrial maintenance or shutdown experience. The successful candidate will be comfortable working outdoors, in active industrial environments, and at elevated heights while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and professionalism.
What You Will Do
- Inspect, maintain, repair, and install industrial flare systems, including flare stacks, tips, pilots, piping systems, ignition systems, and related mechanical components.
- Complete mechanical assembly, disassembly, alignment, bolting, and component replacement activities.
- Support flare stack work at elevation from scaffolding, platforms, man-baskets, or lifts.
- Read and follow approved procedures, drawings, project specifications, work packs, and safety documentation.
- Coordinate work with supervisors, inspectors, engineers, and site representatives as required.
- Support inspection, documentation, and quality-control requirements.
- Follow all site safety rules, applicable Alberta and federal regulations, and Matrix HR policies.
- Exercise stop-work authority when a safety or operational risk is identified.
- Maintain a clean, organized,
and professional work area.
What You Bring
- Valid Journeyperson Pipefitter ticket.
- Experience in industrial maintenance, piping, mechanical repair, flare systems, or shutdown work.
- Experience with industrial flare stacks, flare tips, pilots, ignition systems, piping systems, or related mechanical components is an asset.
- Ability to work safely at elevated heights and in outdoor, weather-exposed industrial environments.
- Ability to climb, lift, and perform the physical duties required for industrial mechanical work.
- Ability to read and follow procedures, drawings, and safety documentation.
- Strong communication skills, professional conduct, and commitment to quality workmanship.
- A demonstrated safety-first mindset and ability to work effectively as part of a shutdown crew.
