We are hiring Journeyperson Welders for a union shipbuilding project in North Vancouver, BC! This is a 4-month contract with a high chance of extension, offering high pay, double-time overtime, employer-paid union benefits, and full relocation support for non-local welders. Location : North Vancouver, BC
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week (overtime available)
Type: Contract, with potential for extension
Start Date : February 2026
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Rate:
- $57.01/hour ($59.29/hour starting March 1st)
- Overtime: All overtime paid at double time
- Union Benefits: $8.85/hour in employer-paid union health and pension benefits ($9.15/hour starting March 1st)
- Living Out Allowance (LOA) to support meals and daily expenses (Tax-free):
- Month 1: $107.35/day
- Month 2: $85.07/day
- Month 3+: $56.76/day
- Relocation Support (Non-Local Candidates):
- Flights provided at the start of the contract and upon completion.
- Fully furnished apartment provided (Kitchen + utilities + internet + housekeeping included)
- Living Out Allowance paid daily
- No upfront costs. Expenses reimbursed after completion of the first week of work
- 4 month contract position with a strong chance of extension based on production
- Security Clearance Opportunity with eligibility valid for up to 10 years
Key Responsibilities
- Weld ship structures and outfit components using FCAW in all positions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work packages, and welding specifications.
- Perform Oxy/Fuel cutting, Plasma cutting, and Air-arc gouging.
- Work safely at heights, in confined spaces, and across varying weather conditions.
- Meet shipbuilding quality standards, VSY Safety Standards, and our clients Core Values.
- Set up welding equipment and prepare materials as required.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors.
- Follow all site safety procedures and contribute to a safe, efficient work environment.
Qualifications:
- Valid Journeyperson Welder Ticket (Red Seal is an asset)
- Valid CWB FCAW All-Position certification
- Minimum 2.5 years (30 months) of welding experience
- Proof of FCAW usage within the last 3 months
- Candidates must pass a Marine Annex weld test (Matrix HR will help facilitate testing)
- Proficient in Oxy/Fuel cutting, Plasma cutting, and Air-arc gouging
Additional Requirements
- Full PPE required.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
- Background/security checks required.
- Willingness to relocate to North Vancouver for the duration of the contract
