Bright Haven is looking for a fun, caring and dependable Kinder Club Program Assistant to support our play-based Kinder Club program for young children.
This position is a part time commitment of approximately 6–8 hours per week and would be a great fit for someone looking for a small, consistent weekly position while gaining experience in early learning and inclusive children's programming.
Working alongside our Kinder Club Program Lead, the Program Assistant will help children participate in activities, navigate transitions and have a positive, engaging experience at Bright Haven.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Program Lead with Kinder Club sessions
- Help children participate in crafts, sensory activities, games, movement and play-based learning
- Provide additional support to individual children when needed
- Help with transitions between activities and program areas
- Encourage positive social interaction, communication and independence
- Help maintain a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment
- Assist with activity preparation, set-up and clean-up
- Follow Bright Haven safety procedures and program expectations
- Work collaboratively with the Program Lead and Bright Haven team
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience working with or caring for children
- Friendly, patient and comfortable engaging with young children
- Reliable and able to work well as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Current First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain
Assets:
- ECE, Educational Assistant or Child & Youth Care education
- Education in Early Childhood Studies, Education, Psychology, Recreation or another related field
- Previous camp, daycare, recreation or children's programming experience
- Experience supporting neurodivergent children or children with varying support needs
Formal ECE training is not required for the Program Assistant position. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children, is willing to jump into activities and can help create a positive and supportive Kinder Club experience.
