Bright Haven is looking for a warm, energetic and experienced Kinder Club Program Lead to lead our play-based Kinder Club program for young children.
This position is a part-time commitment of approximately 6–8 hours per week and would be a great fit for someone looking to complement another position, school schedule or existing work commitments.
Kinder Club is designed to provide children with a fun, supportive and inclusive setting where they can build confidence, independence, social skills and early school-readiness skills through play, movement, creativity and structured activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead Kinder Club sessions alongside a Program Assistant
- Follow and help adapt our existing Kinder Club programming and activity plans
- Facilitate play-based learning, crafts, sensory activities, movement and group activities
- Support early literacy, numeracy, communication, social and school-readiness skills
- Create a welcoming, engaging and inclusive environment for all children
- Support children through transitions, routines and group participation
- Modify activities when needed to support different learning and developmental needs
- Maintain appropriate supervision and ensure children's safety
- Assist with program set-up and clean-up
- Communicate professionally and positively with parents/caregivers and the Bright Haven team
Qualifications
Required:
- Previous experience working with young children
- Comfortable independently leading activities and small groups
- Strong communication, organization and leadership skills
- Patient, dependable and enthusiastic
- Comfortable supporting children with a variety of abilities and support needs
- Current First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain
Assets:
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) education/certification
- Bachelor of Education or teaching experience
- Educational Assistant training
- Child & Youth Care, Recreation, Psychology, Social Work or other child-development-related education
- Experience working with neurodivergent children or in inclusive programming
- Experience with play-based or early-learning programs
We're most interested in finding someone who is confident with children, understands early development and can make learning feel FUN. Hours: Approximately 6–8 hours per week
Wage: $18.50–$20.00/hour based on qualifications and experience.
