LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR & OPPORTUNITIES COORDINATOR

Part-Time Contract | Versatile Schedule | Surrey, BC

Fairways Landscape Contracting 2025 Limited is seeking an experienced and organized individual to help identify, evaluate and estimate commercial landscape construction opportunities throughout Metro Vancouver.

This is initially a flexible, part-time contract opportunity of approximately 8–15 hours per week. Much of the work may be completed remotely, with occasional site visits or in-person meetings when required. There is potential for the role to grow as our estimating volume and construction workload increase.

THE ROLE The successful candidate will help Fairways locate suitable commercial opportunities, review tender documents, prepare takeoffs, collect pricing and assemble professional estimates for final review.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Monitor tender platforms, bid invitations and upcoming commercial construction opportunities
- Identify projects that match the company’s workforce, equipment and capabilities
- Review landscape, civil and architectural drawings and specifications
- Complete quantity takeoffs for planting, soil, mulch, sod, excavation, drainage, hardscape and related sitework
- Request and organize material, supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Assist with calculating labour, material, equipment and subcontractor costs
- Prepare transparent scopes of work, exclusions, qualifications and quotation packages
- Identify missing information, construction risks and required clarifications
- Track tender deadlines, submissions, follow-ups and bid results
- Maintain an organized list of current and upcoming opportunities
- Assist with building relationships with general contractors, developers and other potential clients

Fairways will retain final approval over production rates, pricing, markup, contractual terms and bid submissions.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Previous experience estimating landscape construction, civil construction,



excavation or related sitework
- Ability to interpret landscape, civil and architectural drawings
- Practical understanding of commercial landscape construction methods and sequencing
- Knowledge of planting, soil placement, drainage, excavation, grading and hardscape installation
- Strong organizational and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple bid deadlines
- Experience obtaining supplier and subcontractor pricing
- Familiarity with takeoff, estimating or construction-management software is an asset
- Knowledge of Metro Vancouver construction practices, suppliers and contractors is an asset

This opportunity may be well suited to an experienced landscape estimator, project manager, superintendent, construction professional or semi-retired industry professional seeking flexible part-time work.

COMPENSATION

- $45–$55 per hour under an independent contractor arrangement
- Final rate will depend on relevant estimating experience and ability to work independently
- Approximately 8–15 hours per week initially
- Initial 90-day trial period
- Any hours beyond the agreed weekly or monthly limit must be approved in advance

The successful contractor will be expected to provide invoices and manage their own statutory deductions, insurance and other obligations associated with an independent business relationship.
