Raincoast Erosion Control Ltd. is hiring Landscaping Crew Members out of our Coombs, BC yard, working sites across central Vancouver Island. This is a full-time, permanent position. Whether you have several seasons behind you or you are starting out with a valuable attitude and a willingness to learn, we want to hear from you - we will train the right person.

Know what you are signing up for. This is outdoor physical work, all day, in whatever the Island weather is doing. You are on your feet the whole shift, lifting and carrying 50 lb bags and materials, running a mower or trimmer for hours at a stretch, loading and unloading the truck and trailer, and working on slopes and uneven ground. The work keeps you fit, but it is not a job you can ease into.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lawn and turf maintenance - mowing, edging, trimming and blowing
- Garden bed maintenance - pruning, weeding, planting and mulching
- Spring and fall cleanups
- Loading, unloading and staging materials by hand, including soil, mulch and rock
- Safe operation of hand tools and small power equipment
- Daily equipment checks and general upkeep of tools, trailers and vehicles




- Following all company and site safety procedures
- Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS
- Physically fit - able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly, stand and walk on uneven ground all day, and work outdoors in heat, rain, wind and cold
- Valid BC Class 5 driver's licence and a clean driver's abstract
- Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a crew
- Legally entitled to work in Canada

ASSETS
- Landscaping or grounds maintenance experience
- Occupational First Aid Level 1
- WHMIS certification
- Small equipment or machinery tickets
- Landscape horticulture training or certification

COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULE
- $20.00 - $25.00 per hour, paid biweekly, based on experience
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Company-supplied PPE and tools
