Job Summary
Are you an engineer who loves building products from the ground up?
Our client is a well-established Canadian technology company that designs and manufactures specialized electronic products used by customers across a variety of industries worldwide.
This is not a role where you'll be responsible for just one piece of a larger engineering team. You'll have the opportunity to influence technical direction, design hardware, develop firmware, troubleshoot complex issues, oversee specialized contractors, and see your work evolve from concept to production.
We're looking for a hands-on engineer who enjoys variety, autonomy, and ownership.
What You'll Do
As the Lead Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, supporting, and continuously improving innovative electronic products throughout their entire lifecycle.
A typical week may include:
- Designing PCBs using Altium Designer
- Developing embedded firmware in C
- Supporting software enhancements in C#
- Troubleshooting production, testing, or field-related issues
- Reviewing contractor designs and technical deliverables
- Building, testing, and evaluating prototypes
- Creating test fixtures, test plans, and validation procedures
- Collaborating with Marketing, Technical Support, Sales, and Production teams
- Supporting new product launches and ongoing product improvements
No two days are exactly the same, and that's exactly what makes this opportunity exciting.
Who You Are
You're a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving problems and figuring things out.
You thrive when given responsibility and the freedom to make decisions. You're capable of working independently, but you also understand the value of collaboration and know when to seek input from others.
Most importantly, you're energized by owning complete products from concept through production rather than being limited to a single discipline or stage of development.
Why You'll Love This Prospect
This is an opportunity to join a stable, growing organization where engineers have a meaningful impact on the business.
You'll work directly with key decision makers, contribute to important product decisions, and gain exposure to every stage of the engineering and manufacturing process.
The organization values
- Independence and accountability
- Practical, hands-on problem solving
- Flexibility and trust
- Collaboration and teamwork
- Long-term stability
- Continuous learning and development
You'll work alongside experienced professionals and specialized contractors while maintaining significant ownership over your work and technical decisions. Must-Haves
- Experience designing PCBs using Altium Designer
- Embedded firmware development experience in C
- Experience developing electronic products from concept through production
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
- Experience working with microcontrollers and embedded systems
- Comfortable working onsite in a hands-on engineering environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with C# application development
- PCB fabrication or assembly experience
- Participation in ISO audits or quality systems
- Exposure to FCC, UL, or CSA compliance activities
- Experience developing automated test fixtures or production test systems
What You'll Receive
- Competitive compensation package
- Comprehensive benefits program
- Three weeks of vacation
- Paid sick leave
- Flexible work hours
- Stable, long-term career prospect
- Direct access to leadership and decision-making
- The prospect to work on products from concept through production
