Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30 am - 5:30 pm

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to take ownership of the firm’s full-cycle financial operations. In this key role, you’ll ensure accuracy, compliance, and smooth day-to-day accounting for both the law practice and a related retail business. What You’ll Do

- Manage the full accounting cycle, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, and general ledger maintenance

- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and client invoicing

- Monitor and reconcile trust accounts in compliance with Law Society of Ontario (LSO) requirements

- Prepare and review LSO Form 9A reports and assist with annual audits or spot checks

- Process payroll and handle statutory remittances (CPP, EI, income tax)

- File HST returns and liaise with the CRA on tax-related matters





- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting

- Collaborate with external accountants for year-end and tax filings

- Ensure compliance with Canadian GAAP and legal industry financial regulations

What You Bring

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

- 3+ years of accounting/bookkeeping experience, ideally in a law firm or skilled services setting

- Proven experience with trust accounting and strong understanding of LSO By-Law 9

- Experience supporting audits or compliance reviews with the Law Society of Ontario

- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Clio, PCLaw)

- Solid knowledge of Canadian payroll processes, tax law, and HST

- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and communication skills

- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment

- CPA designation or active pursuit of the designation is an asset (CPD support offered)
