Location Manager – Budget Car & Truck Rental and Self Storage

Location: Port Alberni, BC

Job Type: Full-time, permanent

Salary: $50,000–$55,000 per year plus performance incentives

About the Position

Budget Car and Truck Rental is looking for a motivated, hands-on Location Manager to oversee our car and truck rental and self-storage operation in Port Alberni.

This is a small location with a rental fleet of approximately 35 vehicles and a team of three to five employees, including the manager. The successful candidate will be directly involved in daily operations while also leading the team, developing new business, maintaining excellent customer service, and ensuring the location meets its operational and financial goals.

This is not a desk-only management position. The Location Manager must be comfortable assisting customers, preparing rental agreements, overseeing storage accounts, moving and cleaning vehicles when required, and stepping into other areas of the operation as needed.

ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Operations

- Oversee the daily operation of the car and truck rental and self-storage businesses
- Lead, train, coach, and support a small team of employees
- Prepare employee schedules and ensure appropriate coverage
- Establish daily priorities and assign work based on customer and fleet needs
- Maintain a professional, organized, and customer-focused workplace
- Ensure company policies, procedures, and safety requirements are followed
- Handle customer concerns and resolve problems promptly and professionally
- Complete administrative duties, reports, account reviews, and other management responsibilities
- Monitor location performance and work toward established revenue, service, and operational targets

Rental Operations





- Assist customers with reservations, rental agreements, vehicle selection, and general inquiries
- Monitor fleet availability, vehicle utilization, and upcoming rental demand
- Ensure vehicles are clean, safe, maintained, and ready for customers
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance, repairs, damage documentation, and fleet movement
- Inspect, clean, and reposition vehicles when operationally required
- Help ensure rental transactions, payments, documentation, and records are completed accurately

Self-Storage Operations

- Assist customers with storage inquiries, unit selection, and rental agreements
- Manage customer accounts, payments, deposits, delinquencies, and overdue accounts
- Monitor facility access, security systems, alarms, and property conditions
- Respond to tenant concerns and facility-related issues
- Conduct regular property inspections and coordinate cleaning, maintenance, and repairs
- Ensure storage agreements and customer records are accurate and up to date

Sales and Business Development

- Make sales calls and actively seek new rental and storage business
- Develop relationships with local businesses, repair facilities, dealerships, and community organizations
- Follow up with prospective and existing commercial customers
- Promote available rental vehicles, storage units, and company programs
- Identify opportunities to improve revenue,



customer retention, and local market presence

Qualifications

- Previous management or supervisory experience
- Strong customer service, sales, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience in vehicle rental, self storage, hospitality, retail, or another service-based business is an asset
- Comfortable leading a small team while remaining actively involved in daily operations
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Able to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions independently
- Professional verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable using computers and learning company software
- An acceptable driving record
- Able to drive a variety of cars and light trucks
- Willing and able to clean, inspect, and move vehicles when required
- Able to work a adaptable schedule based on the operational needs of the location

Licence/Certification

- Class 5 driver’s licence (required)
