The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Saint John is looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to join our team!

Our 94-room hotel features an indoor swimming pool, fitness centre, meeting facilities, guest breakfast area and a wide range of building, mechanical and guest-room systems.

We are looking for someone who understands that great maintenance means a better guest experience and who takes pride in keeping a hotel safe, comfortable, clean and looking its best.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As our Maintenance Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day maintenance of the hotel and play an important role in ensuring our guests and team members have a safe, comfortable and well-maintained environment.

You will be a hands-on leader who can identify problems, troubleshoot effectively, complete repairs and know when a specialized contractor is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Oversee all day-to-day maintenance operations throughout the hotel
- Develop and maintain an effective preventative maintenance program
- Complete repairs and maintenance in guest rooms, hallways, public areas, meeting rooms, pool areas and back-of-house areas
- Troubleshoot plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical and building systems
- Respond promptly to guest and departmental maintenance requests




- Conduct regular property inspections and identify maintenance priorities
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders and inspection records
- Monitor and maintain pool equipment and related systems
- Complete painting, drywall, carpentry, fixture installation and general building repairs
- Coordinate outside contractors and service providers when required
- Obtain quotes and assist with maintenance-related budgeting and expenses
- Maintain an organized inventory of tools, parts and supplies
- Assist with fire/life-safety inspections and correction of deficiencies
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with hotel, health & safety and brand standards
- Work closely with the General Manager and department managers
- Assist with renovations, upgrades, projects and capital improvements
- Respond to emergency maintenance situations when required
- Participate in an on-call rotation
- Help ensure the hotel consistently maintains the high standards expected of an award-winning Holiday Inn Express property

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR The successful candidate will be:
- Experienced in hotel, commercial, building or facilities maintenance
- Hands-on and comfortable completing repairs independently
- Knowledgeable in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and mechanical systems
- A strong troubleshooter and problem solver
- Organized and able to prioritize multiple requests
- Reliable, dependable and committed to getting the job done




- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
- A strong communicator and team player
- Comfortable using basic computer programs for emails, work orders and maintenance records
- Flexible and available to respond to emergency situations when required

Previous hotel maintenance experience is strongly preferred.

A valid driver's licence would be considered an asset.
