- Provide technical expertise in composite and non-metallic materials used in aerospace applications.
- Evaluate and select materials for new product development and manufacturing processes.
- Support production and repair activities involving composite structures and bonded assemblies.
- Investigate material-related failures and develop corrective actions.
- Review and approve material specifications, test plans, and engineering reports.
- Support qualification and certification activities for new materials and manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve technical issues.
- Provide guidance on processing, inspection, and repair of composite and non-metallic components.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to material performance and manufacturing efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Materials Engineering.
- Candidates with Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or Chemistry backgrounds may also be considered.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience working with composite materials and non-metallic systems.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Fibre-reinforced composites - Thermoset and thermoplastic materials - Adhesives and structural bonding - Sealants and resin systems - Non-metallic to metallic joining methods - Compression molding - Stamp forming processes Preferred Qualifications:
- Aerospace industry experience.
- Experience supporting manufacturing and production environments.
- Knowledge of materials testing and failure analysis.
- Robust technical writing and presentation skills.
- Polymer science - Material qualification and certification - Bonded joint design and analysis - Aerospace manufacturing processes - Supplier technical support Nice-to-Have Experience - Carbon fiber composites - Glass fiber composites - Honeycomb structures - Advanced resin systems - Engine or aerospace structural components - NDT methods applicable to composite materials
