Toronto Metropolitan University is reshaping the downtown core of Toronto with three new buildings: the Mattamy Athletic Centre at the Gardens, the Toronto Metropolitan University Image Centre in the heart of campus, and a Student Learning Centre on Yonge Street. In addition, currently in progress is the development of a new multipurpose building, the Church Street development (CSD). This new building will be located just north of Dundas on Church Street and will be home to four academic health services programs, Toronto Met.

Qualifications

Enrolled in: 4th year of Ryerson Undergraduate Program. Overall academic performance at B+ (3.3 GPA) or above.

Must have completed course with B+ (3.3 GPA) or above grade level.

Previous evaluation of performance as an Assistant at the University (if applicable).

The Academic

Assistant will support the development and delivery of an undergraduate Marketing Analytics course, with particular responsibility for developing applied business cases, preparing and validating datasets, developing assessment materials and test questions,



and supporting the creation of professionally designed instructional materials.

The position requires a combination of marketing industry experience, quantitative/data skills, business writing ability, digital design experience, and familiarity with contemporary AI-assisted research and content-development workflows.

Responsibilities The successful applicant will:

- Research, write, edit, and format original business cases based on realistic marketing and managerial decision-making problems.
- Develop case exhibits, tables, figures, dashboards, and supporting datasets for use in classroom exercises and assessments, high focus on visual design.
- Clean, organize, manipulate, analyze, and validate marketing datasets using Excel and other appropriate analytical tools.
- Translate quantitative marketing information into clear managerial insights and case narratives.
- Develop multiple-choice, quantitative, short-answer, and applied case-based test and examination questions.
- Design clear and professionally presented case documents, exhibits, figures, and other course materials, high focus on visual design.
- Conduct background research related to digital marketing, customer acquisition, marketing analytics, consumer behaviour, and related topics.
- Use current frontier generative-AI models appropriately to support research, ideation, coding, data work, editing, and content-development workflows, while independently verifying outputs for accuracy and quality.
- Review course materials for accuracy, clarity, and consistency

Required Qualifications

Applicants should demonstrate

- Strong business and professional writing ability, including experience translating complex business, marketing, research, or quantitative information into explicit written communication.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including experience working with, organizing, cleaning, analyzing, and presenting quantitative datasets.
- Demonstrated experience in digital marketing, including practical knowledge of areas such as paid digital advertising, customer acquisition, campaign performance, conversion, web analytics, or digital customer journeys.
- Demonstrated experience with marketing analytics and performance data, including the ability to interpret marketing metrics and translate quantitative findings into managerial implications.
- Experience with current frontier generative-AI models and AI-assisted workflows for activities such as research, writing, data analysis, coding, prototyping, or content development.



Applicants should be able to describe specific examples of how they have incorporated these tools into professional, academic, or research workflows.
- Experience with visual or information design, including the ability to produce professionally structured documents, exhibits, figures, tables, or digital materials.
- Research and data-analysis experience, including experience with data preparation, quantitative analysis, visualization, survey research, experimental research, or related analytical activities.
- Knowledge of consumer behaviour and/or behavioural research sufficient to develop realistic marketing problems and assessment questions grounded in consumer decision making.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to independently review materials for numerical, analytical, and written accuracy.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Preference will be given to applicants demonstrating several of the following:
- Professional experience in digital marketing, marketing analytics, sales, business development, UX/CX, or conversion optimization.
- Experience analyzing real-world marketing campaign or customer-acquisition data.
- Experience with statistical or analytical software such as R, Python, SPSS, Qualtrics, or comparable tools.
- Experience developing surveys, experiments, or behavioural research materials.
- UX/UI, information-design, or data-visualization experience.
- Experience writing UX copy, website copy, research materials, business reports, or other professional content intended to communicate complex information clearly.
- Experience combining quantitative analysis with business storytelling and managerial recommendations.
- Experience using digital advertising and analytics platforms such as Google Ads, Meta Ads, GA4, or comparable platforms.

Required Application Materials In addition to a CV, applicants must submit a brief writing sample demonstrating their ability to communicate a marketing or business problem clearly and professionally. The writing sample should demonstrate the applicant's ability to:

- explain a business or marketing problem;
- incorporate quantitative information or data;
- interpret the information from a managerial perspective; and
- communicate conclusions clearly and concisely.

Applicants should also include a brief description of their experience using Excel and generative-AI tools, including examples of how these tools have been used in professional, academic, research, or analytical work.
