Your Responsibilities

As a Monitoring Surveyor, you will support construction and infrastructure projects involving geotechnical, structural, and environmental monitoring. The position includes both fieldwork and office-based data processing and reporting.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Conducting precise deformation and movement monitoring using total stations and digital levels
- Establishing, verifying, and maintaining survey control points and benchmarks
- Performing baseline and recurring surveys of settlement points, monitoring prisms, structural monitoring points, and other monitoring targets
- Installing and maintaining survey monitoring points, prisms, benchmarks, and related instrumentation
- Completing level loops, control checks, and other quality-control procedures
- Reviewing field measurements for accuracy, consistency, and potential movement
- Downloading, processing, and organizing survey and monitoring data
- Identifying unusual readings, exceedances, or potential data-quality concerns and reporting them promptly
- Preparing survey records, monitoring tables, drawings, and technical reports
- Maintaining accurate and organized field notes, project records, photographs, and documentation
- Assisting with geotechnical instrumentation, condition surveys, and noise and vibration monitoring when required
- Following project-specific procedures, work plans, and health and safety requirements
- Demonstrating a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development

What You Bring to the Team





- College diploma or university degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
- Hands-on experience operating total stations
- Experience with precise levelling, survey control, and construction or monitoring surveys
- Ability to set up, check, and troubleshoot survey equipment
- Understanding of survey accuracy, tolerances, closures, and quality-control procedures
- Strong skills in processing, reviewing, and organizing survey data
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read drawings, monitoring plans, and technical specifications
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify inconsistencies in field data
- Ability to work independently in the field and collaborate effectively with project teams
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions
- Valid provincial driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation
- Availability to work outside regular business hours when required by project schedules

Assets

- Experience with Leica total stations and digital levels
- Experience with automated total station monitoring systems
- Familiarity with geotechnical and structural monitoring instrumentation
- Construction-site experience and knowledge of Ontario health and safety requirements

Pay: $23.00-$35.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
