Senior Java Backend and Open Liberty Developer | Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

We're hiring a Senior Java Backend and Open Liberty Developer to join a high-performing team delivering enterprise-scale applications within a complex financial services environment. This is an excellent chance for a seasoned developer who enjoys driving solution design, building modern microservices, mentoring teams, and contributing across the full software development lifecycle.

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid - 3 days/week onsite)

Type: Contract OR open to full-time applicants

Contract: 85-100 per hour

Salary: $95,000 - $140,000

What You'll Be Doing

- Lead technical design and development of enterprise Java applications and microservices.
- Participate in requirements gathering, solution architecture, and project execution.
- Develop, test, review, and support applications through the full SDLC.
- Collaborate with onsite and offshore teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across development, testing, and production environments.
- Mentor team members and contribute to development best practices.





What You'll Bring

- 5+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
- Strong experience with:
- Java/J2EE
- Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices
- OAuth 2.0
- ReactJS, JavaScript, Node.js
- Swagger/OpenAPI
- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools including Jenkins, GitHub, JFrog Artifactory, Ansible, Jira, and Confluence.
- Exposure to Azure, OpenShift, and cloud platforms (GCP preferred).
- Experience working with IBM Open Liberty.
- Strong understanding of Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working with distributed teams.

Nice to Have

- Application migration experience, particularly from on-premises environments to GCP.
- Experience within banking or financial services environments.
