The Primary Case

Worker provides intensive case management and counselling services for clients residing at Cuthbert House. The incumbent oversees resident supervision while maintaining the safety and security of the facility and everyone living in it. This position provides efficient, protected, and secure operation of the open custody facility and supports the staff team.

Cuthbert

House is an Open Custody/ Open Detention residential facility for male youth between the ages of 12 -20, who are involved in the criminal justice system.

Client Supervision: Ensure the safety and security of all Cuthbert House clients through superior and active supervision. Provide a detailed daily report of shift activities in the logbook, including whether routines were completed. Supervise residents in the facility and when escorting clients in the community in a lawful, safe, and expedient manner.

Ensure that the telephone check-ins with the other facilities are completed each night. Observe, assess, and document resident behavior and ongoing progress in a factual manner. Supervise the delivery of medication and ensure clients are provided with appropriate medical attention as required.

Provide supervision and feedback to student placements.

Resident Case Management:



Know and follow the policies and procedures of The Salvation Army Correctional & Justice Services Cuthbert House, Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. Completed all tasks assigned by the Senior Case Manager. Complete all duties, reports, and logs as per shift description.

Assist youths to address their criminogenic issues. Deal with interpersonal relationships within Cuthbert House in a therapeutic manner. Support youths in fulfilling their spiritual needs in a holistic manner.

Deliver group programming when required. Assume delegated responsibility for the facility as it relates to health & safety. Ensure residents are provided with appropriate medical attention as required.

Communicate and enforce facility rules while maintaining discipline and safety. Leadership, Staff, Clients, Volunteers & Students Community Partners, MCCSS Personnel MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY : The Senior Case Manager functions as a team lead providing direction on tasks and support to this position.

FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT: Responsible for the safekeeping of materials and equipment for own use. Working environment is typically in the facility in generally agreeable conditions. Regular travel to and from scheduled and unscheduled appointments (20% travel).

Some unscheduled overtime maybe associated with this position. Works rotational shifts. Completion of a formal post-secondary/college diploma program of 2 or 3 academic years in Social Service Work, Corrections, and/or Childcare.

First

Aid & CPR Training. Valid unrestricted Class G Driver License would be an asset.

Food Handling

Certificate. Minimum of 2 years of prior related experience in in the Corrections field. Strong knowledge of the youth corrections system. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Fluency in the French language preferred. Able to proactively recognize potential risks and issues, respond with solutions. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
