Open to internal and external candidates | February 10, 2023 to April 14, 2023 | Tenure-track Position Extension of posting period Context and summary In the context of the newly created Infectiopole INRS , the Centre Armand Frappier Santé Biotechnologie (AFSB) of the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the field of host-pathogen interactions. Particular attention will be given to applicant profiles in the area of virology. We are seeking candidates with a strong expertise in omics and/or bio-imaging to study mechanistic aspects of (re-)emerging, vector-borne, neglected, congenital and/or food-borne infectious diseases.

Expertise in bioinformatic analyses of large biological datasets will be considered an asset. The successful candidate is expected to build and maintain an independent, creative, and externally funded research program and to teach in the Centre AFSB graduate programs. INRS is the only institution in Quebec dedicated exclusively to research and to graduate levels studies.

The Centre AFSB provides new Faculty members with recently renovated laboratory space and grants them access to core facilities, including a biosafety level 3 laboratory, and confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, electron microscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance facilities. The Centre AFSB also has close ties to the Laboratoire National de Biologie Expérimentale de l’INRS, a facility dedicated to animal research under biocontainment levels 1, 2, and 3 (certification anticipated in 2023). The collegial work environment at the Centre AFSB comprises around fifty faculty members, conducting research and providing advanced training in the areas of infection and immunity, impact of environment and heredity on disease development, discovery of therapeutics and prophylactics, and microbial biotechnology.





The Centre AFSB is also the only member of the Pasteur Network in North America. Main duties and responsibilities - Establish an independent and innovative research program;

- Develop and maintain internal and external collaborations;
- Secure extramural funding of research;
- Participate in teaching, supervision and training activities.

Requirements - Doctoral degree in a related biomedical field and a relevant postdoctoral experience;

- Strong potential to secure financial support from funding agencies;
- High competence for teaching and mentoring graduate students. Working language French is the work language of the Centre. Fluency in English is required.

Candidates whose native language is not French are encouraged to apply. The selected candidate will be invited to improve their French knowledge during the first contract period (three years, renewable after evaluation). The Centre will provide them all the resources necessary to facilitate their learning of French.
