Join Our Project Development Team!
Do you have ideas for sustainability projects? Would you like to turn your ideas into real projects that create impact in Canadian communities? Biosphere Eco-Cities Canada (BECC) is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our Project Development Team and help transform ideas into meaningful, practical initiatives.
What you’ll do:
Idea Generation & Research
- Develop project ideas or receive them from other volunteers in the BEC network
- Conduct research to develop project concepts
Project Proposal Development
- Drafting project concepts, frameworks or charters
- Support more detailed project proposals, work plans, and timelines if required
Coordination & Collaboration
- Work with a project team in one of the BEC cities to develop a project
- Mentor that team on implementation of the project.
- Track project progress and provide periodic updates
Monitoring & Documentation
- Help maintain records of proposals, ideas, and progress updates
- Research and identify opportunities for new community sustainability projects
- Support project evaluations with success indicators and note lessons learned
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in project planning or development
- Solid organizational and communication skills
- Enthusiasm for sustainability and community impact

BECC is a national charity that supports development of Biosphere Eco-City (BEC) initiatives in Ottawa, Toronto, Brampton, Edmonton, and Vancouver.
Using the Biosphere Eco-City (BEC) approach, BECC organizes sustainability efforts around clear Themes such as transportation, habitat, and sustainable food, ensuring that all key issues are addressed.

Tools, including stakeholder councils and community sustainability plans, make it easier for people to learn, implement projects, innovate, and share ideas. BECC focuses on simple, accessible methods to help diverse participants incorporate sustainability into everyday activities and long-term planning.
