Job details Posted 14 August 2026 Salary CAD negotiable Start date 15 September 2026 Salary Range CAD 100 - 100 per Hour Location Calgary Job type Contract Discipline Power Reference 169639 Job Function Project Manager Project Manager - Engineering & Construction (Electric Utilities) Location: Edmonton, Alberta Position Overview A leading organization in the electric utilities and infrastructure sector is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of capital projects and programs. This role is responsible for overseeing project scope, schedule, budget, safety, and stakeholder management throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will provide leadership to multidisciplinary teams while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities - Lead the development and execution of project business cases, funding approvals, project scope, cost estimates, schedules, and success criteria.

- Manage projects throughout the full lifecycle, ensuring progress aligns with approved scope, budget, schedule, and performance objectives.
- Coordinate and direct activities across planning, engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental (HSE), regulatory, and organizational requirements during project execution.
- Monitor project performance through regular reporting, forecasting, and progress measurement.
- Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and actively manage contingencies throughout execution.




- Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure proper record management.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including customers, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Communicate project status, key milestones, risks, and significant changes to leadership and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to secure critical equipment and materials, particularly long-lead items.
- Monitor vendor performance, expedite deliveries when required, and resolve procurement-related issues.
- Support contract administration activities and assist in addressing commercial and contractual matters.
- Facilitate project closeout activities, including lessons learned reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications - Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Registered Engineering Technologist (R.E.T.), or a related background in Engineering, Business, Commerce, or Project Management.

- PMP (Project Management Professional) designation required.
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, preferably within utilities, power, energy, industrial, or infrastructure environments.
- Solid understanding of project management principles,



including cost estimating, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, and contract management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements applicable to engineering and construction projects.
- Experience working with consultants, contractors, customers, and government or regulatory agencies.
- Proficiency with project management and scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, Oracle Unifier, Microsoft Project, SharePoint, and related platforms.

Preferred Experience - Experience managing transmission, distribution, substations, generation, renewable energy, or other utility infrastructure projects.

- Familiarity with large-scale capital projects involving engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) delivery models.
- Knowledge of utility industry regulations and stakeholder engagement processes.
