The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Regional Business Development Manager to lead business development and sales activities across Quebec.
This is a remote, field-focused position for a construction industry professional who understands how projects are identified, tendered, priced, awarded, and delivered. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new accounts, strengthening existing client relationships, identifying upcoming construction opportunities, and working closely with estimating and operations teams to convert opportunities into profitable projects.
The ideal candidate brings an established network within Quebec's construction sector, strong knowledge of tendering and bidding, and a demonstrated ability to develop new markets and generate sustainable revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a regional business development strategy to expand the company's presence throughout Quebec.
- Identify and pursue new commercial, residential, infrastructure, and industrial construction opportunities.
- Build long-term relationships with general contractors, developers, engineers, construction managers, consultants, and other industry stakeholders.
- Develop new accounts while expanding relationships and opportunities within the existing customer base.
- Monitor upcoming projects and tender opportunities through industry relationships, market intelligence, and platforms such as SEAO, MERX, and Biddingo.
- Review tender documents, specifications, drawings, and project requirements to identify viable bidding opportunities.
- Work closely with estimating and project teams to develop competitive proposals and bidding strategies.
- Maintain an active pipeline of prospective projects, tenders, clients, and business development activities.
- Track regional market activity, competitor activity, project awards, and emerging construction opportunities.
- Participate in customer meetings, project site visits, presentations, Lunch & Learns, trade shows, association meetings, and industry networking events.
- Represent the organization professionally within the Quebec construction community.
- Assist in resolving customer or project-related concerns and ensure strong ongoing client relationships.
- Provide regular sales forecasts, pipeline reports, market intelligence, and business development updates to senior leadership.
- Support longer-term strategic planning and regional growth initiatives.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of sales and/or business development experience within the construction industry.
- Demonstrated success developing new business and generating revenue within a construction-related environment.
- Established relationships within the Quebec construction market are strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction tendering, estimating, bidding, and project procurement processes.
- Experience working with general contractors, developers, engineers, consultants, and other construction industry stakeholders.
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
- Strong commercial understanding of construction projects, including pricing, margins, risk, and competitive bidding.
- Experience developing sales forecasts, account strategies, and regional growth plans.
- Solid negotiation, presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple clients, opportunities, tenders, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote and field-based environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and related business applications.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout Quebec.
- Fluency in both French and English, written and spoken, is required.
- Project management experience is considered an asset.
- Experience within reinforcing steel, structural steel, concrete, civil construction, building materials, or another related construction sector would be highly advantageous.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $95,000 – $135,000, depending on experience and industry background.
