The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient/resident response. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient/resident, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN facilitates patient/resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity.
The RN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required.
Basic Life Support Healthcare
Provider (Level C) required. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5)

Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of one (1) year of Charge or Triage experience. Minimum of three (3) years of acute care nursing experience within the last five years, specifically in adult/geriatric patient populations within Emergency, ICU/CCU, Surgery, and/or Medicine. Advanced knowledge of acute care services, patient flow, discharge processes and hospital operations.
Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, organization and documentation skills. Strong interpersonal communication, stress management and conflict management skills. Commitment to safe, effective and ethical patient care and work practices.
Solid patient advocacy skills and demonstrated ability to manage complex patient situations and barriers to discharge as appropriate. Ability to lead and collaborate within an interprofessional team and support patients and families through crisis. In this position, you will be on your feet for an extended period of time (walking, standing and sitting), and you must be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning patients.
You will also be required to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous leadership experience. Equivalent experience within the last two years. Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and Connect Care.
