Reporting to the Vice-President of Finance and Administration, the Privacy Specialist provides authoritative advice on privacy laws, ensuring compliance with Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). This role demands extensive knowledge of legal requirements, solid communication skills, and a proactive approach to privacy risks and investigations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Advise on access and privacy legislation compliance
• Prepare strategic reports for the VPFA
• Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments and cybersecurity evaluations
• Lead investigations into privacy breaches and complaints
• Train staff on privacy obligations and practices
Requirements:
• Undergraduate degree; graduate degree or certification preferred
• Minimum six years in privacy and records management
• Extensive knowledge of relevant privacy legislation
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Ability to manage sensitive information and multiple deadlines
