Provide and manage legal and regulatory advice on products, initiatives, strategies, policies, and developments for BMO Financial Group Provide legal advice based on legal principles, practices, procedures, and financial-services industry knowledge Influence and negotiate to achieve business objectives while minimizing legal risk Recommend and implement solutions based on analysis of issues and business implications Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making Exercise judgment on moderate to complex decisions within standard policies and regulatory requirements Identify and resolve routine issues and determine courses of action within procedural and policy guidelines Deliver legal advice, instruct external counsel, and ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures Act as a subject matter expert on relevant laws, regulations, and policies Resolve daily issues or elevate them with appropriate analysis and recommendations Identify risks and implement mitigation actions Implement improvements to ensure consistency with the marketplace Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders Provide specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support Work independently and handle non-routine situations Support a geographic scope of up to global Perform broader work or accountabilities as assigned Requirements

Less than 7 years of legal practice or an equivalent combination of education and experience Degree in law (LLB or JD) License to practice law in relevant jurisdiction Private practice, in-house experience or experience at regulatory body relating to regulation of business/group activities may be required Knowledge in legal field,



typically with a functional or business line specialization Knowledge of business and regulatory environment in which BMO Financial Group operates Proficient knowledge of subject matter legal requirements and operations of a single client group In-depth negotiation skills Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience In-depth verbal and written communication skills In-depth collaboration and team skills In-depth analytical and problem-solving skills In-depth influence skills In-depth data-driven decision-making skills Fluent in French and English to support business operations outside the province of Quebec Core Competencies
