Here, you are welcomed into an inclusive and supportive environment that values each individual's contributions and fosters collective success.Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Supervisor, Aboriginal Child and Family Centre, the Zhishay Support Program Worker will ensure that each family participating in child and family programs is supported in fostering their child's development; assisting these families to identify and attain their individual and personal goals and supporting their success in building and sustaining healthy connections within their community; ensuring accessibility and integration of individual and family services within the Aboriginal Child and Family Centre and Early Years Programs.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement and facilitate culturally based early learning educational and prevention programs for male caregivers/those that identify and families with a focus on children 0 to 6 years of age but not limited to.Ensure that program content is evidence and culturally based in all areas related to child development, nutrition, parenting,



family violence and other matters that impact their life circumstances.Undertake community visits, establish in-depth trusting and nurturing relationships with male caregivers/those that identify and their children.Provide educational and Cultural supportive guidance/advice to male caregivers on matters related to early learning and development, family life, relationships and all other matters impacting their life circumstances.Provide one-on-one supportive services to families and their children.Develop and deliver both children’s and male parenting and empowerment programs/circles to promote a sense of identity, culture, parental involvement and to aid in overall capacity building.Make referrals to specialized support, including Holistic and Clinical Services.Initiate and attend meetings with internal and external services.Perform program outreach by utilizing internal and external resources and by participating in community events.Maintain accurate reporting, case files, and statistical data and subsequently submit reports.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications and SkillsEducation and experience in child development, parenting/care giving and FNIM Culture.Recognized and respected by his/her own community as someone who has lived experience and a learned understanding of Indigenous worldviews and traditional teachings,



and they carry themselves within community according to those teachings.Must pass a Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check.An understanding of the issues impacting at-risk FNIM families within the urban environment.A high level of cultural literacy and competence in the provision of culture-based services.Experience promoting and implementing age/stage developmental play/parent-child activities.Awareness of support and resources within the community.Ability to communicate and offer guidance to parents on the care of children.Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Positive organizational skills and ability to multitask.Demonstrated understanding and commitment to integrating the Native Child and Family Services of Toronto Mission and values into practice, service and relationships.Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety practices and understanding of an employee’s responsibility under current legislation.Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, to maintain effective communication and working relationships, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, tact, sensitivity and build strong internal relationships.Our CommitmentIn accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 and the Ontario Human Rights Code, Native Child will provide accommodations throughout the recruitment and selection process to applicants with disabilities as required.
