Marie, ON - CanadaDEPARTMENTQualityRoleAs a Laboratory Supervisor / Technician, you will be responsible for leading laboratory activities during assigned shifts, ensuring accurate testing, quality compliance, and alignment with production objectives. The position combines hands‑on laboratory work with shift leadership, process monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.ResponsibilitiesLead and support laboratory operations during assigned shifts, ensuring protected, efficient, and high‑quality performanceSupervise and guide employees during the assigned shift, providing direction, support, and oversight of daily activities. Coordinate shift schedules, assign responsibilities, and ensure effective coverage across lab and production support activitiesPerform laboratory analyses at all stages of manufacturing to support quality control of raw materials and finished productsEnsure all sampling, analytical, and monitoring equipment is properly maintained and operating reliablyMaintain accurate test records, including start‑up and production dataSupport production teams to ensure compliance with quality management system requirementsImplement and monitor laboratory testing practices in accordance with ASTM standards and Tenaris internal proceduresMaintain systems and documentation required to support ISO 17025 laboratory certificationAnalyze QA/QC data to assess product quality and identify improvement opportunitiesParticipate in troubleshooting and resolution of technical and process‑related issuesConduct metallurgical analyses,



including failure investigations of mill equipmentSupport plant trials and testing to determine root causes and identify process improvementsContribute to initiatives focused on productivity improvement, scrap reduction, cost savings, and process optimizationMonitor key process indicators (e.G., productivity, utilization, downtime, rejections) and drive performance improvementsAssist in the development and implementation of procedures and work instructionsQualificationsPost-Secondary education in Metallurgy, Material Science or Engineering preferredExperience in steel manufacturing preferred2‑3 years’ experience working in a similar environment; previous lab experiencepreferredPrevious supervisory or leadership experience is considered as a strong assetKnowledge of ASTM standards, testing methods, and proceduresAbility to work independently and within a teamFantastic troubleshooting, and problems solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills requiredSchedule & Working Conditions10hr shifts and rotating weekends.
