The role is responsible for the analysis and design of structures for hydropower, dam, and heavy industrial settings. Reporting to the Structural Discipline Lead Engineer, you will support projects globally while working from theNiagara Fallsoffice.We’re entrepreneurs with a technical soul. Our ultimate goal is to achieve no harm for our people, our clients, and our communities.Key Responsibilities:Work independently to apply engineering principles to perform calculations for structural analysis and design of industrial building and equipment support structures and foundationsWork collaboratively to share the results of your work with senior members of the discipline and/or other Hatch groupsPrepare calculation reports and engineering documents to be used by internal and external stakeholdersBecome knowledgeable of structural analytical software and tools, building codes and material design codes, discipline workflows and execution,
and building and equipment structure and foundation systemsParticipate in office and site safety training and inductions as needed to support office and site activitiesWillingness and ability to travel and work in other Hatch offices or project work sites (including remote sites) as needs and opportunities ariseEducation and Experience:Must be working towards graduating in 2026, or recently graduated, with a Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Structural EngineeringExcel academically while being actively involved in extra‑curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the communityPreferred academic courses include Structural Analysis, Structural Mechanics, Reinforced Concrete Design, Structural Steel Design, Foundation DesignAdvanced courses including Hydropower and Dam Structures, Structural Dynamics and Finite Element Analysis are an assetPrevious relevant co‑op and summer work terms or internships in structural engineering is an assetAcademic or work experience with structural software such as SAP2000 and/or STAADPro, FEA (Ansys, LS‑Dyna, Abaqus), CAD software, and MathCAD is an assetKey Attributes of the Successful Candidate:Good understanding of engineering and business fundamentals as they apply to engineering problems and projectsAbility to learn quickly and willingness to take on recent challengesCollaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailShows critical and creative thinking and problem solving, and brings forward solutions for our clients’ toughest challengesSelf‑motivated, resourceful and initiative takerWhat a Career at Hatch Will Offer You:We’re entrepreneurs with a technical soul. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location.
