The Winter Trail Crew team member will monitor and maintain the safe conditions of ski runs/trails, bring first aid to supplies to patrollers administering first aid to injured guests/staff, guard rope lines during avalanche control, participate in lift evacuation, assist with set up and tear down of on mountain events, and may assist with search and rescue operation related duties.
Essential Job Functions
- Recognizes causes of risk, sets up and maintains signage, fencing and boundary markers to minimize skiing hazards.
- Assisting patrol by bringing gear to first aid calls and assist transporting injured skiers from the mountain to the base area.
- Assisting with Incident Investigations recording accident details according to established procedures including taking statements from witnesses.
- Assists maintaining cleanliness and organization of first aid room, locker room and of all first aid supplies on the mountain.
- Enforces and helps educate reckless or irresponsible skiers with regards to the Skier Responsibility Code.
- Follows established working procedures and ensures secure working conditions for himself/herself and the mountain safety staff.
- During avalanche control missions, helps guard avalanche area closures.
- Has a thorough knowledge of company and department polices as stated in the Emergency Procedures and Safety Program manuals.
- Assists rescue teams during lift evacuations and search and rescue operations as required.
- Acts professionally at all times.
- Interacts positively with guests: Provides accurate information regarding lifts, runs, area facilities/services, operating hours and current events. Handles complaints and resolves situations in a courteous manner.
- Can control a loaded toboggan on difficult terrain.
- Safely operates snowmobiles in accordance with RMR procedures
Required Qualifications and Abilities
- Must be eligible to work in Canada - can provide work permit
- High school graduate
- Workers Compensation Board Occupational First Aid Level 3 or NUOEC 3 first aid
- Advanced skiing ability
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
