Kootenay Lake School District is seeking a Casual Indigenous Education Support Worker for the 2026-2027 school year. Provide essential support and guidance to Aboriginal students on an as-needed basis.
In this role, you will assist teachers and collaborate with families and community partners to enhance learning experiences for Aboriginal students. You will support a culturally relevant program while engaging in duties that promote understanding and acceptance of Indigenous history and culture. This position requires a proactive approach and sensitivity to the needs of students.
Key Responsibilities: • Support Aboriginal Education programs and meet student needs • Provide emotional and academic support in a trauma-informed manner • Assist in teaching Aboriginal culture, history,
and traditions • Build relationships to enhance student belonging in schools • Maintain records for compliance with audit requirements
Requirements: • Grade 12 education and Class 5 Driver’s License • Completion of an Indigenous Education Support Worker diploma • Significant knowledge about local Aboriginal cultures • Flexibility to adapt in energetic educational settings • Demonstrated initiative and teamwork in diverse environments
