Canada Post is recruiting for a dependable, organized individual to deliver mail on an on-call basis to rural and suburban communities in Sept-Îles, QC.

As an on-call relief Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, you will work independently, operating a motor vehicle in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions. This is a permanent on-call position with the opportunity to apply for upcoming permanent Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier positions.

Responsibilities

- Sort, collect and deliver mail items in a safe and timely manner
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of local infrastructure including roads, customers and delivery receptacles
- Ensure mail is safely secured in your possession at all times
- Process various Canada Post products and services (Change of Address Notification, Damaged Mail, Items Delivered Bill and others)
- Wear Canada Post identification while on delivery and ensure its visibility
- Lift and carry items up to 50 lb / 22.7 kg
- Operate a motor vehicle safely in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions

Requirements





- Valid permanent provincial driver's licence — Class 5 or G
- Satisfactory protected driving record
- Personal vehicle meeting Canada Post specifications: minimum 50 cu ft cargo capacity, automatic transmission, power windows, metal roof-top with accessory power outlet, passenger window sill height between 38" and 45" from the ground
- Automobile liability insurance for use of vehicle during Canada Post deliveries
- Experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in all weather and traffic conditions
- French language proficiency (French Essential)
- Applicants residing within 75 km of the Post Office in Sept-Îles are preferred

Selection Process

- Must pass an interview
- Must provide a current driver's abstract dated within the last 30 days if selected

Valid Class 5 or G driver's licence, satisfactory safe driving record, personal vehicle meeting Canada Post cargo and specification requirements, French language proficiency, delivery experience.
