Department: Central Ambulance Communications Centre

The North Bay Central Ambulance Communications Centre (CACC), part of the North Bay Regional Health Centre, handles approximately 36,000 calls each year using advanced computer-aided dispatch, radio, and telephone systems. It provides 24/7 emergency medical communications for the Districts of Nipissing, Parry Sound, and Temiskaming, while also dispatching six Emergency First Response teams and offering paging services for 20 fire departments. In addition, CACC serves as the backup Fire/911 communications centre for one community.

QUALIFICATIONS Certification/Experience/Knowledge:

Qualifications as per the North Bay Central Ambulance Communication Centre Performance Agreement required: Must be 18 years of age or older

Must hold (OSSGD) Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent

Must be able to read, write and speak English language fluently

Be a holder of a valid standard first aid certificate issued by a training institute approved by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board

Be a holder of a valid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate to the level as may be required by the Province, and be re-certified in CPR every twenty-four (24) months thereafter

Successful completion of a Ministry of Health approved Ambulance Communications Course (Entry to Practice Training); required

Ambulance Communications Officer (ACO) experience required

College 911 Communications Course required

Skills/Abilities:

Strong organizational skills required

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written required





Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health team required

Demonstrated computer keyboarding proficiency (40 wpm/90% accuracy) required

Ability to work with minimal supervision required

Medical terminology is an asset

Good attendance and work record required

Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers and visitors

Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization

Job offer conditional upon successful completion of Criticaldispatcher testing

Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
