Position Summary Reporting to theProject Manager,theDrafter/Drafting Technologistisresponsibleforoptimizingfacility layouts, new constructionprojectassistingwith proprietary automation systems design,across our cold storage and warehousing infrastructure. This roleis responsible forcreating, revising, andmaintaininghighlyaccurate2D engineering blueprints and 3D digital models for controlled-temperature environments, structural racking systems, material handlingworkflowsand complex robotics. Working closely with engineering, project management, and facility operations teams, the successful candidate transforms operational concepts into precise technical plans thatcomply withCanadian building codes, workplace safety standards, and food safety regulations.

Compensation and Perks Hourly Rate:$60,000 - $80,000peryear

Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week, guaranteed)

Duties and Responsibilities Design and update detailed 2D layouts and 3D models for warehouse spaces,optimizinghigh-density racking configurations& automation designs.

Collaborate with mechanical and refrigeration engineers to integrate refrigeration piping layouts, evaporators, condensers, and under-floor ventilation systems into primary facility blueprints.

Incorporate specialty warehouse infrastructure into design models,including fire suppression and industrial lighting systems

Calculate exact clearances, structural spacing, and forklift aisle turn-radiuses to ensure efficient material handling workflows and equipment safety.

Coordinate with cross-functional teams, external contractors, and equipment vendors to verify field dimensions and ensure designs meet practical project requirements.

Review all drafts to ensure strict alignment withbuilding codes,provincial building/fire codes, and occupational health and safety guidelines.

Assistin preparing technical submittals,permitdrawings, and documentationrequiredfor municipal approvals or internal capital expenditure projects.

Maintaindesignanddocumentationlibrariesand revision histories.

Prepare complete documentation packages for engineers.

Verify drawings are correct to specifications, codes, and other regulations.





Developing technical reports for engineers

Qualificationsand Skills Post-secondary diploma/degree in drafting, engineeringdesignor related discipline.

Minimum3-5 years’ (intermediate)hands-on design experience with mechanical or structural designin an industrial setting.

Certified Engineering Technologist designationoractively working toward eligibility.

Proficiencyin AutoCAD, SolidWorks or other design and modelling software;

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings

Working knowledge of engineering principles and physical industrial refrigeration systems,material handling systemsand applicable regulations and building codes, is preferred.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Self-motivated with proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Schedule 8.5 hour day shift

Monday to Friday

Overtime and occasional call-in’sasrequired

Language Requirements French notrequired

Location & Work Arrangement Primarily based in Kitchener, Ontario

Candidates must be able to reliably commute orrelocateprior to starting

On-site position, five days per week
