This is a temporary contractor position.

This job will be for a one-year period. Reporting to the Director of Tax, the senior tax manager will have oversee tax compliance, tax reporting and forecasting. The senior tax manager will also provide ad-hoc tax advice as required.

Tax Compliance and Reporting:

- Review tax returns
- Review tax provisions and prepare analysis to reporting variances to management
- Provide tax advice to business units on income tax matters as required
- Assist with strategic transactions including acquisitions and divestures
- Provide tax advice to other lines of business and provide technical guidance to internal stakeholders where needed
- Recommend improvements and standardize procedures to improve efficiency.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation that may impact tax positions
- Mentor and Develop staff

Required qualifications:

- At least 7-10 years of progressive experience in auditing and tax.
- Minimum two years? experience in a people leader position.
- Advanced knowledge of tax and accounting concepts, applying and researching Canadian tax legislation, regulations, principles and practices.




- Experience in reviewing complex tax provisions and providing in-depth variance analysis to help management understand functions in tax.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to understand and prepare and review tax models
- Experience reporting with knowledge and experience in US GAAP and/or IFRS
- Effective communication skills required to interact effectively with internal and external contacts on income tax and accounting matters.
- Self starter with the ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
- Demonstrated leadership and cooperative skills.

Preferred qualifications:

- Experience with regulated utilities is an asset
- Experience with payroll tax /taxable benefits legislation is an asset
- Knowledge and experience with SAP
- Experience with managing tax audits
- Experience with SR&ED; claims

This is a hybrid role requiring the contractor to be on site at least 2 days per week at the Hydro One office in Toronto, ON.
