Position Summary
Nienkämper International Inc. is seeking a reliable and motivated Shipper/Receiver to join our Logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate shipping, receiving, inspection, documentation, and storage of all incoming and outgoing materials, components, and finished goods. This role plays a key part in supporting production and distribution operations by ensuring inventory accuracy, maintaining material quality, and ensuring the timely availability of goods within a safe, clean, and well-organized warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities
Shipping
· Prepare and package finished goods for shipment (furniture, components, hardware).
· Verify shipping documents (packing slips, bills of lading, courier paperwork).
· Schedule pickups with carriers and coordinate logistics.
· Load trucks safely using forklifts or material handling equipment.
· Ensure shipments are accurate, properly labeled, and meet customer requirements
Receiving
· Receive, unload, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and bills of lading.
· Inspect materials and products for damage, defects, or discrepancies; report issues promptly to Purchasing or Operations.
· Ensure all received goods meet Nienkamper quality standards before acceptance.
· Offloads product from trucks and provides for rotation on a “first in-first out” basis unless otherwise specified by a supervisor.
· Responsible to control any non-conforming product that does not meet customer/internal specifications by placing it on hold physically and in ERP system
· Properly breaks down skids and sorts accordingly.
· Store materials in designated locations.
· Create and maintain a detailed and accurate report of inspection results, including taking pictures and communicating inspection results to all appropriate personnel
· Processes PO’s (purchase orders) in ERP System after receiving physical product.
Inventory Control
· Accurately record shipping & received items in the inventory management system.
· Label, tag, and store materials in designated warehouse locations.
· Assist with cycle counts and periodic physical inventory audits.
· Maintain accurate inventory records and report shortages or overages.
Documentation & Communication
· Complete all required receiving documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
· Communicate shipping & receiving issues, delays, or damages to relevant departments (Purchasing, Production, Shipping, and Quality).
· File and maintain shipping & receiving records in accordance with company procedures.
Warehouse Operations
· Safely operate material-handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks (where certified).
· Keep the shipping, receiving and storage areas clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards.
· Support internal material movement to production or shipping areas as required.
Health & Safety
· Follow all workplace health and safety policies, including proper lifting techniques and equipment use.
· Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses immediately.
· Comply with WHMIS and other applicable safety regulations.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Previous experience in shipping & receiving, warehouse, or logistics role preferred.
· Experience in manufacturing or furniture-related environments is an asset.
· Strong knowledge using ERP system
Skills & Competencies
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Basic computer skills and experience with inventory or ERP systems.
· Is licensed and operates a forklift, pump truck or an electric pallet jack safely and efficiently.
· Ability to read and understand purchase orders and shipping documents.
· Good communication and teamwork skills.
· Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand for extended periods
· Ability to perform repetitive tasks
· Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
· Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required
Working Conditions
· Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery
· Use of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear is mandatory
· Compliance with all occupational health and safety legislation and company policies is a condition of employment
· Participation in safety training and adherence to safe work practices is required
Salary: $ 22.00-$25.00
