Take on a pivotal Engine Room Assistant role with BC Ferries in Nanaimo. This position involves critical vessel operations, where monitoring machinery and maintenance work is key to our success. Reporting to the 1st Engineer, you will ensure the smooth functioning of main engines and auxiliary systems.

Responsibilities include safety checks, assisting in maintenance tasks, and performing general cleaning duties. You will also support routine operations such as managing fuel soundings and ensuring cleanliness throughout the engine room, vital for a secure workplace. Key Responsibilities:
Maintain oil and water levels of machinery systems
Assist in regular maintenance and emergency checks
Perform housekeeping of machinery and spaces
Support fuel management and cleaning oil strainers
Engage in safety drills and maintain emergency procedures Requirements:
STCW Basic Safety (MED A1 and B2) certification required
Mechanical training or an Engine Room Rating certificate preferred
Experience with emergency systems and safety protocols
