Iron Horse Earthworks Inc. is seeking an experienced Hydrovac Operator to join our team for civil and earthworks projects in Port Hope, Ontario.
The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating hydrovac equipment to support excavation, utility exposure, daylighting, trenching, and other project activities while working closely with supervisors and ground personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate hydrovac trucks and associated equipment.
Perform daylighting and exposure of underground utilities and infrastructure.
Complete hydrovac excavation around existing services, pipelines, structures, and other sensitive areas.
Operate high-pressure water and vacuum systems safely and efficiently.
Work closely with labourers, equipment operators, spotters, and site supervision.
Complete daily pre-use inspections and identify equipment deficiencies.
Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and care of hydrovac equipment.
Safely load, transport, and dispose of excavated material as directed.
Follow utility locates, excavation procedures, JHAs, and site-specific requirements.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment.
Complete required daily documentation and equipment inspections.
Follow all company, client, and regulatory health and safety requirements.
Qualifications
Previous experience operating a hydrovac truck is required.
Experience working around underground utilities and civil construction is strongly preferred.
Valid DZ or AZ driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract.
Robust understanding of secure excavation and utility daylighting practices.
Ability to safely operate high-pressure water and vacuum equipment.
Mechanically inclined with the ability to perform basic equipment inspections and maintenance.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a crew.
Experience on industrial or highly regulated sites is considered an asset.
Valid First Aid/CPR and construction safety training are considered assets.
Position: Hydrovac Operator – Full time / Project-Based
Location: Port Hope, Ontario
Pay: $40.00-$60.00 per hour
