Senior Market Research Associate – Financial Services Team

This posting is for a position on our Financial Services team. Our team works with Canada’s top brands in banking, fintech, investments, insurance and more. Our team is looking for a senior market researcher with at least 3-5 years’ experience working with quantitative survey data and qualitative insights (focus groups, in-depth interviews, etc.). A central focus of this position is attending client meetings, understanding clients’ business and research needs, and creating reports that are accurate, explicit and responsive to the client’s objectives.

Our team is fascinated by understanding the human drivers that influence money-related decisions in all realms of life: earning it, spending it, saving and investing it, using it to protect ourselves, and ultimately, sharing it and leaving legacies. Working to answer the most important questions and challenges facing our clients, our team participates in the design, execution, analysis, reporting and creation of thoughtful recommendations for Canada’s leading financial services providers in banking, investments, insurance, business financing, technology, industry associations, and more.

The Position

The Financial services team is a small team that is always sharing and collaborating on different initiatives. No two days look the same for us and so a successful candidate will be someone who is positive, easy to work with and open to working on a range of different projects. Familiarity with financial services is an asset, however, interest to learn and curiosity are fundamental traits of our team.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Lead in the creation and delivery of both syndicated and custom research studies
• Work directly with end-clients to understand needs and develop ideas, project work and reporting
• Work on mostly quantitative research (brand tracking, segmentations, ad and collateral testing, strategic decision-making etc.) projects but have exposure to a broad range of qualitative projects and methods as well
• Explore additional topics of personal interest and benefit from training and learning opportunities
• Join forces with other team members to translate research findings into a story and develop insights for the end-client

You Have:

• 3+ years’ direct experience in market research – buyer, supplier or research agency
• Foundational training in market research methods (quantitative and qualitative research), business intelligence, data analytics, etc. from a Research Analyst Program or similar
• Bachelor’s degree (majors in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, etc. are an asset)

You Are:

• A professional communicator with strong written, oral and communication skills
• Creative,
  
  
  
  analytical and able to synthesize data, with a solid understanding of the research process.
• Comfortable presenting research findings to clients, or motivated to build the skills and confidence needed to take on a larger presentation role over time.
• Well-organized and able to manage multiple projects and/or client needs at once, with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and able to create client-ready deliverables at all times
• Effective in working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Inherently fascinated by financial topics and always curious to learn more
• Proficient in data analysis with SPSS, Q, or R
• Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset
• Able and willing to attend in-person client meetings at locations in and around Toronto

Salary ($75,000 - $90,000) plus bonus based on performance assessments.
