Become a critical player in environmental safety as Transport Canada's Regional Environmental Preparedness and Response Officer in Vancouver or Victoria, BC. Manage compliance, conduct inspections, and develop strategic partnerships daily.
This GT-05 role requires a secondary school diploma and experience in applying legislation and conducting regulatory oversight. You will engage in site inspections, inspect oil handling facilities, and develop essential response plans with stakeholders in the shipping and oil handling industries. Your expertise will ensure compliance with Canada’s oil spill preparedness and response regime.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure compliance of oil handling facilities and response organizations • Conduct site inspections and evaluate pollution exercises • Collaborate with the Regional Enforcement Unit on compliance issues • Develop tools for policy implementation in working groups • Maintain partnerships with industry and key federal and provincial partners
Requirements: • Secondary school diploma or acceptable education combination • Experience in monitoring, inspections, or audits • Knowledge of Canada's marine oil spill preparedness • Robust ability to analyze and provide recommendations • Willing to work in marine and outdoor environments
